Potty Training 101...for cats!

So this is the Litter Kwitter! 

And how we are training the girls (cats) to use the toilet! I thought it was a crazy idea at first too! But have you ever had to clean out two litter boxes daily, and vacuum every day?...It's not fun! Not to mention that they get in the box and walk around in that mess and then walk all over my house...couch, kitchen table, my bed...yea that's pretty disgusting when you think about it! So I decided to get this kit and try it out! We can take it back if it doesn't work, I asked :)

Step 1:

Take away the litter boxes. They will go to what feels comfortable so buh bye stinky boxes! The kit starts out on the floor beside the toilet for 2 to 3 days until they get used to the idea. And trust me they need to get used to it. They are going from two huge litter boxes to this tiny thing...this should be fun!

Step 2:

Fill it with flushable litter. You have to make sure you get the kind you can flush so you don't clog your toilet. I am very glad I did not learn that the hard way! Now we wait. Wait until they get the hang of using this thing to potty in. Then we can move it up to the toilet!

But wait!!! We had an accident on Day 2 :( 

But no worries! It was to be expected! I mean this is a huge change for them!!

Step 3:

Move the kit to the toilet! Now yes this will be a pain to move every time WE have to go to the bathroom. But I look at it as sooo worth it if this works in the end! So we are at this stage for 2 to 3 weeks now. I just moved it up onto the toilet this evening and they have yet to potty. But our bedroom doors are shut so there will be no more accidents on our beds!

I really love my cats! And I will love them even more when they can use the toilet so I don't have to clean up after them anymore! And this will save us a ton of money on buying cat litter!! So wish us luck! I will blog again when we move to the next step!!
